BPMN Is Not Documentation. It's Management

Many organizations still see BPMN as a documentation exercise.

A project starts.

A few workshops are organized.

Some diagrams are produced.

The files are stored somewhere.

And that's the end of the story.

The problem? Processes are not documented for the sake of documentation. They are documented to support decisions.

A good BPMN model helps organizations:

✔ Understand how work is actually performed

✔ Identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks

✔ Align business and IT teams

✔ Prepare ERP, automation, or process improvement initiatives

✔ Reduce misunderstandings and rework

When process models are treated as static documentation, their value is limited. When they are treated as management assets, they become a powerful tool for transformation.

The question is not: "Do we have process documentation?" The real question is: "Are we using our process models to make better decisions?"
